Get Kullanımı / Using Get

Bazı adjective'ler, "get + adj." şeklinde "get" fiiliyle beraber kullanılabilirler. Bu kullanım, adjective in verdiği anlama doğru gitmek, o hale gelmek gibi anlamlar verir. İngilizce dilbilgisinde çok yaygın bir kullanım olan ve Türkçede olmayan bu kullanımı, örnekler ile daha iyi anlayacağız.

The temperature is 40 degrees. I am getting hot.

It is 12 o'clock. I am getting hungry. Let's have lunch.

I couldn't come to the party, because I got busy.

You shouldn't walk under the rain. You will get wet.

Bu yöntemle, sık kullanılan tabirler:

It is getting dark. And it is getting late. We should return home immediately.

Örneklerden de görüleceği gibi, bu yöntemi farklı tense lerde kullanabiliriz. Az önce öğrendiğimiz "stative passive"ler de işlev ve kullanım olarak adjective gibi olduklarından, onları da "get" ile kullanabiliriz.

Did you get drunk last night?

Did you get drunk on beer last night?

That man got arrested for theft.

You must get dressed now or you'll miss the school bus.

My parents got married 45 years ago.
