Stative verbs düşünmek, bilmek, görmek gibi durum fiilleridir. Örneğin; think, know, see... Bu kelimeler şimdiki zamanda çekimlenmez ve -ing ekini almazlar. Çoğunlukla I see, I know ve I think denir.
Active verb ise oynamak, koşmak, yüzmek gibi hareket içeren fiillerdir bunlar şimdiki zamanda çekimlenebilir ve -ing ekini alabilirler. Örneğin: play, run, swim...

Stative verbslerde dikkat emmemiz gereken bazi fiillerin hem stative hemde non stative olmasi ve buna gore anlaminin degismesidir.

1. Look
It looks cold outside. (Diarisi soguk gorunuyor)
Asuman is looking out the window. (Asuman camdan disari bakiyor.)
2. think
I think that Ali is a good teacher. (bence Ali iyi bir ogretmen)
I'm thinking about my family right now. (suan ailemi dusunuyrum)
3.appear
Kemal appears to be tired today. (Kemal bugun yorgun gorunuyor)
She is appearing on a TV show today. (O bugun Tv shovunda gozukecek)
4.have
I have a computer.
I'm having a good time. (iyi zaman geciriyorum)
5.see
Do you see that bird?
The doctor is seeing a patient right now. (Doktor suan bir hastayi goruyor)
6.taste
It tastes salty.
The chef is tasting the soup.
7.smell
It smells bad.
I'm smelling the flowers.
8.be
I am a teacher.
Ahmet is ill but he wont't see a doctor. He is being foolish
