type 2 - type 3

Daha önceki ingilizce derslerimizde relative clauses konusunda gördüğümüz tense'i "bir geri alma" burada da uygulanır.

 

Type 2, aslında gerçekleşmemiş bir olay için, "keşke gerçekleşseydi"

Type 3 ise gerçekleşenolayın zıddını, "eğer gerçekleşmiş olsaydı" şeklinde anlatır.

 

Türkçemizde bu iki kullanım arasında belirgin bir fark yok. Ancak İngilizcede bu farka dikkat ediliyor.

 

Type 2, gerçekleşme ihtimali çok zayıf olan veya hiç olmayan, gerçekleşmemiş olaylar için kullanılır. Esas önemli olan, olayın gerçeklememiş olması ve gerçekleşmesinin de beklenmemesidir. Koşul mana olarak geniş zamanda olmasına rağmen, simple past tense ile kullanılır. Ana cümlecik de, zaten olmayan bir koşuldan etkilendiği için, "hayali" durumdadır; bu nedenle de "would" ile kurulur. Bu type, genellikle dilek ve temennileri ifade etmek için kullanılır.

If my parents were rich, I would have a bigger allowance.

If I had a Ferrari, I would use it everyday.

 

 

 

Type 3 ise, gerçekleşmediği kesin olan bir olayı anlatır, yani geçmişten bahseder, "eğer gerçekleşmiş olsaydı" şeklinde bir varsayım ile kurulur. Yani, koşul cümlesini yazarken, yaşanmış gerçeğin zıddını kullanırız. Ana cümlecik de, "gerçekleşmiş olsaydı ne olurdu" sorusuna cevap olacaktır. Burada ifade, past perfect ile anlatılır. "if clause" past perfect ile, ana cümlecik ise "would + past perfect" ile kurulur.
If the team hadn't lost the last game, they would have had the opportunity to join the finals.
Eğer takım son oyunu kaybetmiş olmasaydı, finallere katılma imkanları olmuş olacaktı.
Bu cümleden şunu anlarız: Takım son oyunu kaybetmiş. Bu, kesin bir gerçektir. Bu gerçeğin zıddı olsaydı, yani son oyun kaybedilmeseydi, ana cümlecikte bahsedilen olayın, gerçekleşme ihtimali olurdu.

 

 

 

Bu iki type ile de verilen olay, aslında gerçekleşmemiştir. Aralarındaki temel fark ise, Type 2 olayın hiçbir zaman gerçekleşmediği, Type 3 ise bahsedilen koşulun tersinin geçmişte gerçekleştiği durumdur.

 

 

Şimdi type 2 ye geri dönelim ve konuyu detaylıca inceleyelim.

 

 

 

Type 2

Type 2 deki en belirgin özelliklerden biri de, "be" yardımcı fiili yüklem olacağında hem tekil, hem de çoğul şahıslar için "were" kullanılır.

 

Cümle "(if)Simple past + would" şeklinde kurulur.

If I were a rich man, I would be living in a mansion.

If she were single, I would ask her out.

He would help you if he were here.

 

 

Günlük hayatta özellikle 3. tekil şahıslar (he,she,it) için "was" kullanıldığına da rastlarız. Ancak doğrusu tüm şahıslarda were kullanmaktır.
If my dog wasn't so old, it would be a good watchdog.

 

 

 

Modallar kullanılabilir.

If I could swim, I would go to the pool with you.

If he could drive, he wouldn't have to go on buses any more.

If she were here, she would be able to help you.

If these furniture could talk, they would tell us a lot of stories about the past residents of this house.

 

 

 

Unless, bu type ile kullanılmaz.

 

 

 

Bu type ile en sık kullanılan tabirlerden biri de "If I were you.....", yani "senin yerinde olsaydım......" deyimidir.

 If I were you, I wouldn't wait for her any more.

If I were you, I would quit that job this moment!

If I were him, I wouldn't work as hard (as him / as he does).

What would you do if you were me?

 

 

 

Yine aynı manadaki diğer bir ilginç kullanım da "if I were in your shoes......"

 If I were in your shoes, I would be proud of myself!

If I were in his shoes, I would accept the proposal.

 

 

If you had a million dollars, would you still continue to work?

If I weren't a doctor, I would like to be a businessman.

Which animal would you like to be if you weren't human?

If I won the lottery, I would be driving a supercar now.

If I were having lunch at the moment, I wouldn't be able to answer your call.

If the roads weren't so narrow in this city, the traffic would be flowing easily.

 

Would you mind if I killed you?

Would you mind if I tried to?

Type 3

Bu grubun kullanımında if clause past perfect ile, ana cümlecik de would (could) + past perfect ile yazılır. Unutmayalım, bu cümlede if clause ile verilen ifadenin zıddı, geçmiş zamanda gerçekleşmiştir.
If I hadn't forgotten, I would have returned your book today.
I forgot
If the weather hadn't been so windy yesterday, we could have gone sailing.
It was windy
If the driver hadn't noticed the big rock on the road, we would have had a very bad accident.

 

 

Modallar uygun şekilde kullanılabilir. If I had arrived on time yesterday, I would have been able to join the auditions.
If my mechanic had fixed this car instead of you, this break-down could have been avoided.
My mechanic didn't fix it, you fixed it.

If you had studied properly, you should have passed the test easily.

If the meeting hadn't been scheduled for tomorrow, I wouldn't have had to work late today.
Eğer toplantı yarın için planlanmış olmasaydı, bugün geç saatlere kadar çalışmak durumunda kalmazdım. Yani anlıyoruz ki, gerçekte, toplantı yarına planlanmış.
He wouldn't have been so successful if he hadn't been paying attention in class.

 

 

 

Unless bu type ile sık kullanılır.
We couldn't have completed the job unless he had helped.
